RightFax, Healthcare, HIPPA & Meaningful Use

In February 2009, President Obama signed into law a bill that is now transforming the face of healthcare IT in the United States faster than any technical or any other regulatory change in history, creating new challenges for healthcare administrators. Hospitals and physicians who treat Medicaid and Medicare patients must demonstrate “meaningful use†of electronic health records (EHR) to qualify for funding to modernize the country’s health IT systems over the next few years. The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) section of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) provides $22 billion for automation which amounts to $44k per physician over the next few years.

TeleForm and RightFax Compatibility

TeleForm version 10.9 and higher is now compatible with RightFax 10.5, later versions of TeleForm including v16 are also compatible with RightFax v16. The two licenses are expected to be remain in lock step with regards to compatibility going forward. Those using RightFax primarily to receive and send faxes to and from TeleForm won’t experience any substantive issues. GOT A QUESTION - CONTACT US NOW Any client still using TeleForm 10.9 won’t work properly out of the box with RightFax as you’d expect. The product ships with a DLL that has a defect and won’t configure with RightFax. Connectis has resolved the issue with a replacement DLL.

Some firms choose to use a flat fee for fax related costs and don’t accurately manage the number of fax / print transactions while others have adopted technologies like EquiTrac for managing their document related costs. Even if you’re using EquiTrac to manage your documents now, you probably didn’t know that you can improve your document fee management by integrating EquiTrac with RightFax, the most popular fax server on the market. For those of you not using something like EquiTrac, get with the program. While I’m a client of legal services and I don’t like seeing my bills go higher for any reason, I’d be more comforted when my lawyer charges for faxing services that he’d be able to substantiate the costs. RightFaxImage directory (by default RightFaxImage) contains all images of faxed documents in the RightFax system. The database records contain handles associated to these images. These images are typically stored on the RightFax server in the C:Program FilesRightFaxImage directory. Sometimes it is required to store the images in other partitions or even other servers in the case of Shared Services Module, there are 1 to 18 RightFax servers that can share the same data. Once a fax server solution has been implemented in a client’s site – most IT professionals pay little attention to the system, until it comes to upgrade time or something breaks. They can be big, complex dark ugly IT mass of lines and infrastructure that IT may have either forgotten about (because everything usually works) or they don’t have the skills to handle expansions or contractions in their environment.
