With a little time to spare before my next big stop, I wandered around some of the historic churches right in the heart of New Bern. First up was Christ Episcopal Church, just across Pollock Street from the Pepsi museum. Its towering gothic-revival-style steeple is hard to miss! Originally built in 1750, the current building is the third-ish version after the first one was rebuilt in 1824 and then again after the second version burned down in 1871.

Punta Cana on the easternmost tip of the Dominican Republic is currently one of the hottest Caribbean destinations. Its beaches run for about 20 miles (32 km) along La Costa del Coco, also known as the Coconut Coast, and for the most part are pristine and have clear turquoise water. It’s an area of lavish, all-inclusive resorts and lots of excursions with fun things to do including zip-lining, windsurfing, kayaking, sailing, and much more.
