A £350,000 investment drive has been completed at a Telford precision manufacturer giving it a major boost in capacity. Advanced Chemical Etching (ACE), which is approaching its 25th anniversary in business later this year, has installed two additional single chamber Chemcut etching machines and a state-of-the-art UCE developer for creating quicker and cleaner imaging. It means 325,000 sheets can be produced every year at its Hortonwood facility, a 30% boost in throughput and, importantly, gives it greater flexibility over product lines and increased accuracy.
When embarking on a metal etching project, selecting the appropriate acid or corrosive chemical is a necessary decision that directly influences the success of the process. This exploration delves into the considerations for choosing the proper acid—an essential factor in achieving precise and desired outcomes in metal etching.

ACE has developed a new, non-HF chemistry for Nitinol Etching and chemical etching of other titanium alloys, which is safer to use. The new TiME process offers several advantages, including achieving tight tolerances and producing stress-free and burr-free etched parts. The process does not alter Nitinol's mechanical and chemical properties, which are essential for its super-elasticity, shape memory and biocompatibility.
