Named after the great sage Vedvyas - the man behind the composition of the Hindu epic Mahabharata, Vedvyas Temple in Rourkela is located near to the confluence of Koel, Shankha, and Saraswati Rivers that all together form Brahmani River. Since the temple is remarked as highly religious, every year, thousands of pilgrims flock to this place to solemnize thread ceremonies, marriages, and other rituals. Rituals of last rites are also performed on the banks of the river.
