Pine bark extract is made from the European coastal pine tree, sometimes referred to as the maritime pine or Landes. The juice is fermented and brewed after extraction. Prior to being shaped into tablets, it is also allowed to air-dry. Pycnogenol is the brand name for the commercial pine bark extract that a French scientist registered for patent. There may be differences between the effects of pine bark extract and pills.
