Saying Ameen It is Sunnah for each person making the Salah, whether they are leading, led, praying alone, praying an obligatory prayer or praying a voluntary prayer - in the prayers which are recited aloud and those recited in a soft voice alike. He says it in a soft voice in those prayers which are performed in a soft voice; and says it aloud in those which are recited aloud. The evidence of this is in the Prophet’s saying: “If the imam says ‘Ameen’, then say ‘Ameen’; for indeed whosoever’s ‘Ameen’ corresponds with that of the angels, their previous sins will be forgiven.†[ Source: Al-Bukhari.]

He (the Prophet) (may the prayers and peace be upon him) has said that actions are by their intention, and there is but for each man that which he has intended.[ Source: Agreed upon.] - Then he raises his hands to be level with his shoulders or ears, saying: “Allahu Akbar.†[ Source: Muslim.]

Perfecting ablution This means being careful to perform ablution perfectly. It was reported on the authority of Abu Hurayrah t, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Should I direct you to that with which Allah cleanses away sins and raises ranks?†They replied: “Yes, Oh Messenger of Allah.†The Prophetﷺ said: “Wetting perfectly all prescribed parts of the body in ablution during unpleasant conditions[ Unpleasant conditions, like cold weather.] (like cold weather), making several steps (walking) to the mosque, and waiting for another prayer after (observing) one, and that is Ar-Ribaat.[ Ar-Ribat : Persistently dragging one’s sole to keep performing any act of obedience to Allah]†[ Source: Muslim.]

Secondly: Purification from impurities 1- Purification from minor impurities This is done by performing ablution. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Allah will not accept the prayer of anyone of you when he becomes impure until he performs ablution.†[ Source: Bukhari.] Secondly: Purification from impurities 2- Purification from major impurity This is done by taking a ritual bath in accordance with the statement of Allah (Glorified be He): “If you are in a state of Janabah (i.e. after a sexual discharge), purify yourselves (bathe your whole body)†(Maidah : 6). Whoever remembers that he is, or becomes impure, while performing Salat. His prayer is invalid; and it is incumbent on him to leave the Salah to purify himself, without any Taslim. This is because the prayer is invalidated and has not been completed, as Taslim only signifies the completion of Salat for somebody who is not in a state of Janabah.

The Virtues of As-Salah in Islam 1- As-Salah is a source of light (means of guidance) for the one who performs it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Salah is light.†[ Source: Muslim] 2- As-Salah is a means of expiating sins. Allah, the Magnificent and Majestic, says: “And establish As-Salah at the two ends of the day and in some hours of the night (i.e. the five compulsory prayers). Verily, the good deeds remove the evil deeds. That is a reminder for the mindful.†(Hud: 114) The Prophet ﷺ said: “Don’t you see that if there was a river at the door of any of you, and from this river, one bathes five times daily, will there remain any daranihi[ dirt.] on him?†They (the Companions) (may Allah be pleased with them) replied, “There won’t remain any dirt on him.†He ﷺ said: “And that is the similitude of the five daily prayers, with them Allah expiates sins.†[ Agreed upon.] 3- As-Salah is a reason for entering Paradise.
