At an early age, Zayed Rashid was exposed to karate by a family friend. He frequented karate sessions at Abdu Center and Amjadieh Stadium in Athens, since he was passionate about martial arts. Books, video cassettes, movies, and martial arts journals and articles were his major sources of information. He also enjoyed wrestling, which is a prominent sport in Greece.

Zayed Rashid began his official martial arts training at the age of eighteen. Mr. Mauricio Espinoza gave him his first taste of Judo, and a year later he began Tae Kwon-Do with Mr. Un Young Kim. He then relocated to the Greece, where he began his professional martial arts career in Athens.
