We all hope that regular brushing and flossing will prevent plaque and tartar build-up which leads to cavities and other long-term issues. While regular brushing and flossing does help prevent the bulk of build-up, often we miss little areas that slowly build up over time. This is very common and normal as it?s difficult to see the insides of your own mouth! Eventually, this build-up can no longer be removed regardless of the amount of brushing you do!

During a routine check-up, Dr Maher will inspect each and every individual tooth you have and provide you with an overall dental health assessment. This involves looking for plaque, tartar and cavities on or between your teeth with a huge focus on the inside-face of your teeth (the areas where you normally can?t see). He?ll then inspect your gums and overall oral health to ensure everything is in tip-top shape!

Dental fillings, or tooth fillings, are most commonly used to fill in the area that is left when a cavity has been treated. A tooth filling serves two main purposes: To prevent further damage to the tooth once the source of decay has been removed To restore the functionality of the tooth Completed correctly, your tooth with not decay further and your use of that tooth is restored! It is important that your dentist ensures the area is completely clean before filling the area of the tooth or it will continue to decay under the filling.
