Dr.Pratap completed his MBBS along with a rotatory internship from SDUMC institute, affiliated with RGUHS. Following this, he attained his MS-General Surgery degree from Kurnool Government Medical College and later pursued and completed his M.Ch-Plastic & Reconstructive surgery from the prestigious Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi. He established the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and is also the Head of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive surgery in NRI Medical College and Super Speciality Hospital in Mangalgiri, Andhra Pradesh. He established a dedicated Burns unit in NRI.
