Why Do You Get Parity On 4x4 Cube, Not On 3x3?

Niteshdeshmukh30 Nov, 2021Games

A parity is whether a move or sequence of moves swaps pieces an even or odd amount of times. Parity can occur if you put the wrong centerpiece in the wrong slot. The role of parity is just to put the correct centerpieces in to it’s right slot and solve the edges in which you got parity On every face on a 4x4 you have 4 center pieces that each have a specific slot they must go in. You cannot get parity on a 2x2 or 3x3 cube because it is designed like that.

5x5 Redux vs Yau Methods Comparison

Niteshdeshmukh30 Nov, 2021Games

5x5, for some, can be categorized as the entry into big cubes, as it closely resembles the procedure required to solve other puzzles like the 6x6 and the 7x7. In other words, if we know how to solve a 5x5, it is most likely that we will be able to solve 6x6 and 7x7 (or any other bigger cube-like 8x8, 9x9) the same way we solve the 5x5.

4x4 Cube Yau Method And Why It Is Effective?

Niteshdeshmukh06 Nov, 2021Games

4x4 Yau is arguably the fastest and efficient method to solve a 4x4. The Yau method was proposed in 2009 by Robert Yau, and since then has been used by most of the top speedcubers worldwide. The method is a slight variation of the standard reduction method for 4x4, which surprisingly produces a much faster and even more efficient solves.

Factors Involved in Breaking the Sub-10 Barrier

Niteshdeshmukh06 Nov, 2021Games

There are many common barriers in speedcubing that most cubers struggle to overcome: Sub-30, sub-20, sub 15, sub-10. The faster you get, the harder it is to improve quickly, as refining your solves and identifying tiny mistakes gets more difficult. I struggled a lot to break the sub-10 barrier, and it took me quite a while to get there.

2x2 Cube Solving Advanced Method - One Look

Niteshdeshmukh06 Nov, 2021Games

Solving a 2x2, though might look easier, if one needs to be fast in it, definitely requires some level of knowledge on how to solve a 3x3 Rubik’s cube as well. This is the exact reason why advanced methods in 2x2, namely CLL, EG1 and EG2 (Collectively called Full EG), require the cuber to know around 120 algorithms, a lot of which might be familiar from the knowledge of solving a 3x3. These advanced methods can be broadly divided into 2 steps, the base layer and 1 algorithm for the top layer. This is the reason why 2x2 solves are extremely fast when compared to other puzzles like 3x3, pyraminx, etc.

Hey guys! My name is Sheldon. I’m a speedcuber originally from Mumbai and I am specialized in solving big cubes. I’ve been competing in official WCA competitions for 5 years. I hold 3 current and 2 former national records in 6x6 and 7x7, and 3 national championship silver medals. My official best times include a 1:40s single and 1:42s mean of 3 in 6x6, and a 2:20s single and 2:32s mean of 3 in 7x7 (the last 3 of which are currently NRs).

How To Keep Yourself Motivated While Cubing - Pranav Prabhu

Niteshdeshmukh06 Nov, 2021Games

Once you’ve reached a certain point while cubing, if you’ve not been able to improve much in recent months or it feels repetitive, it’s hard to find the motivation to practice. Especially in recent times, as the pandemic has resulted in many lockdowns and in-person competitions have been cancelled or postponed, it’s hard to keep up the same level of practice or interest without having face-to-face interactions with fellow cubers and the fun of being at competitions. Here are a few ways I keep myself motivated when I find myself tiring of cubing and practising certain events.
