Which Temples are called Char Dham?

The Char Dham refers to four sacred Hindu temples located in the Garhwal Himalayan region of Uttarakhand, India, and they form the core pilgrimage circuit followed during the chardham yatra 2026 season. These temples are Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. Yamunotri Temple is located in Yamunotri village of Uttarkashi district, near Barkot, an altitude of 3,293 meters above sea level. Gangotri Temple, dedicated to Goddess Ganga, lies in Gangotri town, Uttarkashi district, an elevation of 3,100 meters. Kedarnath Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, is situated in Rudraprayag district near Gaurikund at 3,583 meters, making it the highest of the four shrines. Badrinath Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, is located in Chamoli district near Joshimath at 3,133 meters and is accessible by road. These four temples together are known as the Char Dham.
