The voice of a lovely piece of jewelry is powerful and versatile. It may represent a special memory or connection, provoke an emotion. My emotion piece is my father's wedding ring; after he passed away I found his ring and wear it to this day. For me, it embodies him. I've enjoyed jewelry design and creation for years, always coming back to it time and again as the path I'm meant to follow. Merging natural elegance & creative energy to create one of a kind artisan jewelry is a joyful experience. I find inspiration for my designs from many sources: wildlife, nature, quirky patterns and textures found in surprising places, geometry, symmetry, and layers....anything can be an inspiration!

Sphericals are a simple earring that pack a punch. I sketch the image onto either sterling silver or brass, then hand-saw the shape out. A small drilled hole in the middle allows me to then saw that middle out. A lot of hand-filing smoothes the edges. I shape them a bit by hammering them into a curved mold; this adds to their light-catching abilities. After cleaning and polishing, sterling or gold-filled ear wires complete them. Your choice of sterling silver or jeweler?s brass.

Careful measurement is the first step; next is the hammering necessary to add texture to the front. After sawing all the pieces out of sterling silver, I solder the box together. Once the lovely pear-shaped Carnelian is selected, the bezel to seat it is created out of fine silver bezel wire. After the bezel is soldered in place, it?s time to add fun embellishments like a ring of sterling balls, called granulation, which are created by heating small pieces of silver to the melting point; the pieces curl up into perfect balls. I drill openings to allow the pendant to hang from chain; and then clean and polish the piece, carefully filing the sides to create the finished seamlessness. After setting the teardrop Carnelian stone, a bit of patina emphasizes the hammered texture.
