The Australian Institute of Laser Therapy (AILT) was officially opened in the city of Melbourne on the 9th December 1997 by Secretary General of the World Association of Laser Therapy (WALT). Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) was recently renamed Photo Bio Modulation (PBM) therapy which is a phototherapy, which utilises both laser and non-laser light within the visible and near infra- red wavelengths to support cellular energy production, which is necessary for living cells to function and regenerate themselves.

Secondary effects that flow on after absorption of light into living tissues have been proven to reduce inflammation and pain after the very first laser PBM therapy treatment and also benefit recovery after injury or surgery in much shorter time frames than physiotherapy or needle acupuncture alone.
