The Thyme shrub is a small flowering botanical belonging to the Lamiaceae family and the genus Thymus, of which there are over 350 species. Thyme is indigenous to the Mediterranean, and "garden thyme," Thymus vulgaris, is a common culinary herb used both fresh and dried. Thyme Vulgaris is also used to make thyme essential oil, one of the most potent used in aromatherapy.
