The Western Ghats, also known as the Sahyadri Mountains, is a mountain range that runs parallel to the western coast of the Indian peninsula. It stretches over a distance of approximately 1,600 kilometers (990 miles) from the southern tip of India in Tamil Nadu to the state of Gujarat in the north.
