WHAT IS RIBOFLAVIN? Riboflavin, also known as vitamin B2, was the second vitamin to be isolated and the first to be extracted from the B complex of vitamins. It is a water-soluble vitamin and is intimately involved in metabolism and cellular respiration inside the body. Like other B vitamins, riboflavin helps transform the foods we eat such as fats, carbohydrates, and proteins into usable energy for our cells. Riboflavin is essential for healthy growth and development and, in tandem with B1, is responsible for normal red blood cell formation.
