Your kidneys have about one million tiny filter units called nephrons. Each nephron has a glomerulus. More than one glomerulus is called glomeruli. Glomeruli work like strainers and perform the function of blood filtration. Glomerular disease can cause glomeruli to leak blood into the urine. The urine may look pink or light brown.
