The U.S. Wage and Hour Division is concerned with minimum wage rates and overtime payments, child labor, and equal rights and oversees federal labor laws. Failure to comply with U.S. Wage and Hour Division laws may result in the employer paying the employee back wages, damages, penalties, attorney fees, and court costs, plus the prospect of civil and criminal penalties from federal and state governments. This session will focus on determining whether employees are correctly classified as exempt or non-exempt and ensuring that wage and hour laws are being followed correctly, as well as proposed changes to the overtime thresholds of the Fair Labor Standards Act 2024.
