Qatar has made strong efforts to accelerate its economic growth and is now allocating and spending a good fraction of its annual budget in infrastructure construction. Up to 45.8% of the total planned budget in 2018 was allocated to complete major projects including infrastructure projects aimed at providing facilities to support the activities for upcoming FIFA World Cup 2022. The Qatar government has already announced that the total spending for 2018 focused on the global sporting event FIFA World Cup 2018 could reach up to QAR 203 billion, including the investments made for public facilities and infrastructure.
