Jagarana Launched as the mouthpiece of Utkal Sahitya Samaj in 1942 Jagarana had on its editorial committee Chandrasekhar Mishra, Bipin Bihari Pattnaik, Basudeb Mahapatra, Radhamohan Gadanayak. Chandramani Das acted as the managing editor. This fortnightly literary magazine carried the usual fare of stories, poems, essays etc. but with a creative character. It discussed many problems along with their prevention and solution. The magazine?s philosophy was that literature was not only for entertainment, rather it was a powerful medium for the awakening of consciousness.
