The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides support for the participants to live independently. During the planning conversation, the participants can discuss their home and living goals which will help the NDIS to include the necessary supports in the participant?s NDIS plan. Supported Independent Living (SIL) is one type of home and living support funded by the NDIS for participants with higher support needs. It is best suitable for those who need intense support at home around the clock, including overnight support. Apart from SIL, the NDIS also provides funding for a variety of other home and living options depending on the individual needs of the participant. Supported Independent Living (SIL) can help people with disabilities, especially young adult participants, to move out of their parent?s homes and lead a life of their own. Most of the time, participants who have SIL funding in their NDIS plan share housing with other participants
