Cat allergy is an allergic reaction in humans to the allergens produced by cats. The most common cat allergen types are Fel d1 (secreted by cat?s sebaceous glands) and Fel d4 (found in cat?s saliva). Nearly 25% of allergic patients tend to suffer from cat allergy due to Fel d1 and Fel d4. Cat allergens are produced in large amounts, especially Fel d1, in the form of dander and is considered to be a major reason of causing allergic asthma across the world. Avoiding cats is the primary therapy for allergic patients. However, certain allergy drugs and allergy shots help to control the symptoms of cat allergy.
