In industry, hexane sds is used to formulate glues for shoes, leather goods and roofing. They are also used to extract edible oils from seeds (such as canola or soybean oil), for cleaning and degreasing of various items, and for textile manufacturing. They are commonly used in food soybean oil extraction in the US and may be present as a contaminant in all soy foods using this technology [citation needed]; lack of FDA regulation of this contaminant is a matter of debate.
