Guggul: The Ayurvedic Gem for Holistic Health Guggul or Guggulsterone is a gum-resin and plant-derived steroid extracted from the guggul plant, Commiphora mukul, native to India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. The Commiphora mukul plant belongs to the Burseraceae family, also known as the "incense family," which also includes Commiphora wightii, Commiphora gileadensis, Boswellia serrata, and Boswellia sacra.
