Carbon Steel: Pros and Cons

One of the most important groups of engineering alloys is carbon steel. It is an alloy of carbon and iron. Carbon steel is named so because it has higher concentration of carbon, which is around 2- 2.5% more than other types of steel. Out of all the steel produced today, carbon steel is produced the most. It has high tensile strength and is fairly inexpensive to produce. Carbon Steel is worked with at high temperatures and then slowly cooled down and brought to normal temperature.
