1. Welding neck Flange ? The pipes welded to the neck of the flange are called welding neck flanges. The pressure is transferred to the pipe instead of the flange. The base of the hub is also freed from a marginable amount of pressure. These flanges are usually used where there is a significant amount of pressure involved. Locations with highly variable weather conditions also use welding neck flanges 2. Sliding Flanges ? A sliding or a slip on flange is a ring like structure placed over the end of the pipe. These are made so that the pipe can meet the center of the flanges to be welded at both the outer diameter and the internal connection. As the name suggests the flanges on this pipe are meant to slide on the pipe. The flanges are considerably larger than the outer diameter of the pipe.
