The jawbones and the tissues overlying them have some normal structural variations, these normal variations are sometimes wrongly seen as dangerous tumors. One of these variations is called tori (the plural of torus, which means a swelling or a projection), they also might be called exostoses (plural of exostosis) of the mandible (torus mandibularis).
