Molecular studies of the frontal lobe show a striking pattern: nearly all aging-related genes—98% of the 667 identified—shift more quickly in women than in men. These changes don't just happen later in life, they start earlier, too. Studies on female mouse brains showed that 44.2% of genes underwent significant aging-related changes between 6-9 months of age, while only 5.4% of genes changed in male brains during the same period.
