Viscous lidocaine is used in certain medical procedures like for treatment of pain of a sore, discomfort from a sore throat/mouth, cancer chemotherapy. The dosage of Viscous lidocaine may vary for every patient in terms of treatment, age, and weight so it is mandatory to use it exactly as directed on your prescription label. It belongs to a class of drugs called local anesthetics and you should not try to use it more or less than prescribed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you are using it for a longer time than prescribed it may cause several side effects like shallow breathing, drowsiness, shakiness, vomiting, seizures, ringing in your ears, etc. If you feel any side effects you should immediately stop the medication and consult the doctor.
