The quality of technical writing is hard to measure, there are no official quality metrics for technical writing. Much of a technical writer?s work is not writing; rather, it involves research, conversations, testing, gathering input and sources, screen captures, reviewing, etc. Our output rate varies based on the complexity and length of the topic and the time it takes to complete all these various tasks. Despite all of this, people do indeed like to measure things and with good reason. With that in mind, what metrics matter when it comes to technical writing? There is some overlap here, but ask yourself the following questions.
