Purple Heart Day, observed annually on August 7th, honors the brave men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces who were wounded or killed in service to their country. Established by General George Washington in 1782, the Purple Heart is one of the oldest military decorations. On this day, we remember the sacrifices made by these heroes and recognize their courage and dedication to protecting our freedom.
