Roux-en Y Gastric Bypass or Gastric Bypass is considered a ‘gold standard’ weight loss surgery that aims at facilitating weight loss by limiting the production of the hormones that cause hunger and the amount of food a patient can intake and absorb. One the most commonly prescribed bariatric surgeries in Dallas and other places, the procedure is divided into two parts: first, making a small pouch in the stomach, and second, the bypass procedure. Gastric bypass is not new as it dates back to 1961, but newer techniques and preoperative assessments have made it safer than ever before.
