Gum disease (periodontal disease) is one of the most common oral diseases. Also known as periodontitis, it is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults. And it could happen to you. If left untreated, gingivitis will gradually get worse and result in periodontics. Gingivitis is a mild form of gum disease that is characterized by bleeding and inflammation of the gums. Most cases of gingivitis are reversible with proper oral health. The medical name for gum disease is periodontist. While we are all very aware that it is important to treat Periodontists treatment, most of us tend to treat it as something that only happens to the elderly. The reality is that gum disease can happen to anyone, and more often than not it can get worse over time.
