What are EEXI and CII regulations?

Lotus Containers06 Nov, 2023Business

EEXI evaluates a ship's energy efficiency by comparing its carbon emissions to a reference value. This assessment applies to ships with a gross tonnage of 4000 or more and takes place once in the vessel's lifetime. Once certified, the evaluation remains valid throughout the ship's operational years. In contrast, CII ratings are conducted annually and concentrate on reducing emissions over successive years. This evaluation takes into account emissions not only during the ship's voyages but also during its time at anchorages and while docked in ports. Explore more shipping terms with LOTUS Containers.
