The British driver needed no second invitation to surpass Norris as he did that in style and never looked back as he brought up the big milestone of reaching a century of wins. With Max Verstappen being asked to start at the back of the grid, Hamilton would have sensed a chance to close the gap at the top of the drivers' championship, although he himself started fourth. While Hamilton would now breathe a sigh of relief, for much of the race, it was all about Norris and Carlos Sainz. However, the weather change seemed to have helped him as a few tyre swaps left some spinning and others colliding with the 36-year-old surpassing Norris with only two laps to go for the finish line.
