Coho salmon, or silver salmon, offer one of the most thrilling freshwater fishing experiences in Alaska. Their season is distinct from other salmon species and generally runs from late July through mid-August, with peaks varying slightly depending on the river system. On the Nushagak River, salmon fishing is typically best from July 21 to August 15, when these silver fighters make their annual upstream journey.This period is a fantastic time to target Coho because the fish are abundant, aggressive, and eager to strike.
