Vidyasagar University is one of the recognized universities of West Bengal, which was established on 29 September 1981. A special law, the Vidyasagar University Act, was passed to make it in the memory of a great man who was, anyway, known to us as Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar, commonly, and his actual name began with Pandit, and people know him as Pandit Iswar Chandra Bandyopadhyay.
