Large, twisted veins known as varicose veins are frequently seen on the legs as a result of the veins' internal valves deteriorating or failing. The smooth, one-way return of blood to the heart is the responsibility of these valves. Blood starts to accumulate in the veins when they aren't working correctly, which makes them grow and appear noticeably twisted or protruding. Varicose veins, which are frequently linked to poor blood circulation, can cause a variety of symptoms in the affected area, such as pain, discomfort, and swelling (edema). If neglected, they may also eventually lead to more severe side effects like ulcers, skin abnormalities, or a higher risk of blood clots.
