Uses of measuring and metrology machines

Coordinate measuring machine (CMM) is used to measures the geometry of physical objects by sensing discrete points on the surface of the object with a probe. This machine may be processor controlled or physically controlled by a machinist. The dimensions are defined by a probe attached to the third affected axis of this mechanism. Probes can be automatic, white light, optical, or laser, among others.
