Today, 54 per cent of the world?s population lives in urban areas, a proportion that is expected to increase to 66 per cent by 2050. India's population in towns and cities is expected to reach 600 million by 2031, according to a 2014 UN-backed report. As urban populations continue to grow, rural populations are expected to decrease. This means that we need more people planting churches, winning souls and making disciples in urban centers. We need people who understand needs of today's urban centers and who know how to minister in an urban context. Christian professionals in the marketplace can become effective church planters, pastors, evangelists, teachers, prophets and engage in effective ministry for the Kingdom of God.
