uPVC doors a secured by something called a multipoint lock which after a number of years of use, will eventually fail due to wear and tear. Multipoint locks work by lifting the handle on the door and the mechanism will lock in several places up the frame, you can expect a multipoint locking mechanism to last around 10-15 years before it fails. In some cases we are able to dismantle the mechanism and repair it without having to replace the mechanism with a new one, which is much more cost effective than having to have a brand new mechanism installed. We will always try to fix a mechanism before we replace it. If the mechanism or lock cannot be repaired, then we will let you know and offer you a replacement mechanism.
