Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is a blood cancer which makes too many white blood cells from the bone marrow. Tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI), a group of medicines, play a major role in treating CML. We must first examine the historical context of CML in order to fully appreciate the role that TKIs play in the treatment of this illness.
