AA is one of the only universities in America where scholars can enjoy pastimes like canine- sledding or swash rafting in between lectures. The university has seven sodalities trades and lores, business and public policy, education, engineering, health, community and specialized, and the Honors College. Business and operation, health professions, psychology, social lores, and engineering are some of the most popular subjects at UAA. UAA prides itself on its connection to the Arctic and aims to be a leader in exploration and prompting for Arctic issues. These issues are woven through UAA?s tutoring across all disciplines. English literature and language scholars read essays by pens from the Arctic, anthropology scholars study the native peoples of Alaska, and wisdom scholars look at the environmental impact of retreating ice situations.
