Tooth Extraction

When should a tooth be extracted? The most common reasons for tooth extraction are as follows: Crowding: Dental braces treatment (orthodontic treatment) may require tooth extraction in order to make some space for alignment of rest of the teeth. Infection: When tooth cannot be saved by root canal treatment, extraction is inevitable. Tooth injury: Any trauma due to sports or accident can lead to tooth fracture. In such a situation, if there is vertical fracture of tooth due to trauma or if the tooth cannot be salvaged by root canal treatment, the dentist will extract the tooth and give various options to replace the gap created by missing teeth. Impacted Wisdom tooth: In most people, impacted wisdom tooth mandates tooth extraction. Due to encroachment/lack of space in the jaw, the tooth may find it difficult to erupt. It will cause pain and even harm the next tooth beside. Hence to save other teeth in the jaw line, impacted wisdom tooth should be removed at the earliest.
