Antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) are increasingly being utilised to treat a variety of illnesses, including neuropathic pain, migraine headaches, and psychiatric problems requiring mood stability, in addition to epilepsy. Despite the fact that AEDs are regularly recommended in elderly patients and those who are prone to imbalance, little research has been done on how these medicines affect gait and balance. Even at therapeutic levels, data from controlled effectiveness and safety trials shows that some AEDs are more likely to alter balance than others.
