The History and Current State of Indian Music: A Course on Shastriya Sangeet - HUA

This Course gives a guided tour of the rich history and development of traditional Indian music, with a focus on Hindu music. Through lectures and readings, we will learn about the composers, sages, saints, emperors, and other famous people who have helped music grow and change over time. We will get to the heart of Indian music traditions by focusing on "the raga" and "the tala." We will also look at what the different traditions have in common, such as their spiritual roots and long history. The goal of this course is to give a full picture of how traditional Indian music and Hindu music have changed over time.
