Flowers are the universal gift. Regardless of occasion or purpose, flowers seem to convey the most basic yet most meaningful gesture of goodwill. Of course, popular culture across history has always emphasized the romantic notion of giving flowers which hare often portrayed through the giving of flowers during stages of courtship or as everyday expression of love between lovers and family members. And there are also the popular practices of flowers being given during special instances such as when a person is sick or when a person visits a home, it is almost customary to bring flowers. It is also a symbol of welcome such as when a newcomer in the neighbour is welcomed by baskets of wine with flowers or when a new boss arrives in an office and is greeted by a bouquet of flowers. In that sense, whether by itself or as an accompanying component of a gift, flowers simply provides an additional meaning to any gesture especially when the expression is directed at a woman or girl.
