Humidifiers are a heart-healthy way to make the air in your house more comfortable. There are many types of humidifiers, but those that use water vapor are referred to as "steam" humidifiers. These units tend to have a higher operating temperature than other types of humidifiers and require more careful cleaning and maintenance due to the risk of mold growth. Humidifiers with a water-based solution are the least expensive, but generally require more maintenance than steam humidifiers. The humidity output drops off as the water in the solution evaporates, so they often require more frequent refilling.
