A fun-to-drive vehicle at a reasonable price was our top priority. There was a lot of reading and visiting showrooms over the course of four months, but ultimately it came down to driving each candidate. Only the Porsche Macan S, the Mercedes-Benz GLK350/ML350, the Audi Q5/SQ5 3.0 TFSI, and the BMW X3/X5 made the cut. Surprisingly, when equipped with equivalent features, the four competitors' prices all fall within a limited band width.
