To support racial harmony and human unity, Moujan Vahdat, a New York-based billionaire and founder of Elmo Realty Co., has run an annual competition called the u201cRace Unity Awardsu201d and has just chosen its first winner. After a citywide competition, junior Matthew Garaicoa of Lehman College in the Bronx won the grand prize, which includes a plaque of honor and a $2,500 check for his impressive efforts in raising awareness of racial equality.
